My History Can Beat Up Your Politics, routinely podcasting since 2006, is a podcast that uses history to better understand the politics of today.  History is books, journals, films, old letters, buttons and slogans, sometimes photos and cartoons. They can speak to us in ways that current commentators are too invested to do. It doesn’t always work, but sometimes it works very well.

We are part of the Airwave Media Podcast Network, along with Kick Ass Politics, Ben Franklin’s World, and podcasts by the Founder of Snopes.com and food critic Mark Bittman, among others.

We do a mix of episodes – great stories of politics and history, explanations of political concepts, interviews with authors who can talk politics and history, and Q&A.  (Lately, I’ve been deemphasizing interviews as listeners seem to prefer the narrative history.)

Thanks,

Bruce Carlson

Hi, how can I get the premium episodes or downloads or older episodes? The links don’t seem to work.

  2. Premium would be for sale at http://www.myhistorycanbeatupyourpoliticspremium.com

There are several epsiodes on this site scrolling down and pressing the down arrow will bring up older episodes. Most are not available unless through premium subscription, but a few from the past few years are there.

Thank you for the podcast. Very well done. But I have an odd question: Your voice (great pipes) sounds just like the guy who did YouTube videos with a voice over for his dog. Those were very funny. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGeKSiCQkPw) Any connection?

Please keep up the good work.

  4. Thank you. That is funny. I hear a wee bit of closeness but different around the edges. he’s a little more either New York or Canadian (i heard an ‘owut’) than me. The only youtubes i have are my own podcasts.

    Hi!

Love the podcast, but the music on the Romney episode was very distracting and loud.

    Thanks for reading
